11 Dec 2011: The government has announced plans for improved quality information on care Providers. Having cut the budget of successive R&I organisations, centralising control and limiting the scope of these bodies to compliance enforcement it is no wonder serious problems arise. “Trip Adviser” for Care Homes is not going to work—a professional approach to quality management and good systems, like ALIS is what is needed!
Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) have used ALIS for many years and has now implemented the latest release. Next year will see further changes in the regulatory process in Wales as the authority moves towards greater focus on specific enforcement. |

The QA+ALIS system was the first QAPlus system designed specifically to support the Registration and Inspection of public service providers. The process is highly regulated by statute and the application process includes many mandatory reference checks.
Guaranteed compliance with internal procedures through the application of user defined ‘rules’ throughout every process and step.
Manage complaints while accumulating statistical information that will assist future risk assessed inspection.
Automated production of letters, documents and emails ensures consistently high quality standards are met with increased efficiency.
Prioritising the use of resources through categorisation of enquiries or complaints by risk and complexity.
Enhanced administrative control and monitoring through automated production of user defined management information and audit trail reports.
Process Manager tracks progress of current and overdue tasks for quality assured, efficient end to end processing of all enquiries and complaints.
Local Authorities were originally responsible for the regulation of all settings including Retirement and Nursing Homes, Childcare settings, Nursery Education facilities etc.. This role was then centralised and ALIS was used by the successive authorities: National Care Standards Commission, Care Standards in Wales, Care Quality Commission, Ofsted etc.. Many aspects have now been decentralised back to Local Authorities in respect of Childcare and PCTs in respect of Health settings. Throughout all these changes QAPlus and the ALIS system have met the user’s needs! |
